After graduating with a degree in Nutrition from Immaculata College (now Immaculata University), Marcia Silkroski began her career at West Jersey Hospital.  A year later she moved to Pennsylvania Hospital in Philadelphia, PA.  In her time there she founded a multi-disciplinary chapter for nutrition professionals called PASPEN (the Philadelphia Area Society for Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition).  This organization continues to be a strong presence on the local and national level for nutrition professionals.  

She began working outside the hospital with local physicians to plant the seeds for what now is Nutrition Advantage.  At that time the focus was one-on-one patient counseling.  She managed 5 busy offices in the Delaware Valley for counseling and in the meantime branched out into local facilities, hiring subcontractors to satisfy the great demand for nutrition consultation.  Because she worked in many of the facilities she now serves through subcontractors, she is in-tune with the operations and procedures.    

Her passion for enteral nutrition led her to co-author a nursing textbook simply titled Tube Feeding.  She has been invited to speak on this topic, and has written many other nutrition related chapters on topics including breastfeeding, complementary and alternative medicine, eating disorders, long term care, rehabilitation, renal disease, and wellness.  Besides PASPEN, she has served on the Board of Directors for many Professional Organizations (eg. Council on Renal Nutrition of the National Kidney Foundation and for the Local ESRD Network, ASPEN Chapters Committee, Chester County AIDS Consortium)throughout her career.  In 2005 she was the recipient of the first Professional Excellence Award for PASPEN. 

Marcia has a genuine respect for her clients and a loyalty to the RDs that serve them.
